Timothy Shaner and Christopher Measom started Night & Day Design in 1989. They have designed everything from magazines to perfume bottles to film titles. For the past 10 years, however, their concentration has been book design with a special eye toward editorial.

Timothy Shaner began his design career at Hearst Magazines in the promotions department. He moved to book design in 1991 and has had a hand in designing more than 50 books. He is the design originator of the Welcome Books Little Big Book series which has 1.5 million copies in print.

Christopher Measom has been a freelance writer/photographer since 1994. He was Senior Writer at the travel newsletter Out & About for ten years and had a monthly column called New York Metro Page in the now-defunct Hero magazine. His work has also appeared in Business Traveler and various Little Big Books.

Based in New York Night & Day Design's current list of clients include Bantam, Bulfinch, Clarkson Potter, Disney Editions, Dorling Kindersley, The Feminist Press, HarperCollins, Newmarket Press, Random House, Steward, Tabori & Chang, TV Books, Welcome Books, and Wiley.
